I had my first misgivings about Up All Night when I watched “New Car,” the fourth episode of the first season in which the couple buy a used car from a Native American man. It showcased all the narrative stereotypes about Native Americans, and didn’t even try to do so ironically, which for some folks makes said stereotypes ok, in the vein of hipster racism. I mean, the man turned into a bird and flew away. I couldn’t even finish watching the episode. I had to stop watching the show for a few weeks before returning to it.
